Excellent, much-needed, handbook covering the postal history of British Airmails. Beginning with the pre-First World War era (the first British Air Mail acceptance was during the Franco-Prussian War) and covering the development of Air Mail Services, Routes and Rates up to the end of 1945. The book covers "true Aerial Postal History" only, i.e. services which were available to the general public. A large volume, well illustrated with photographs, maps etc. As usual with Proud publications, valuations for covers are listed throughout.

First volume of the three volume set by Ted Proud on the postal history and postmarks of the British army. This volume covers the establishment of the Army Postal Service in 1882, the 1882 Egyptian Campaign, the 1885 Sudan Campaign, and (mainly) the Boer War. The Boer War section was co-written by the late Kenneth Griffith, the well-known actor and Boer War collector. An excellent handbook, drawing on original documents, and very well illustrated with postmark illustrations. A must have book for military postal historians and particularly Boer War collectors.
