Sciaky, Roberto - Ethiopia 1867-1936 History, stamps and postal history
Sciaky, Roberto - Ethiopia 1867-1936
History, stamps and postal history

Publisher: Vaccari, 1999.
Large format hardback, dustwrapper, illustrated, 221 pages, a few tiny dusty marks to the top-edges, minor wear to dustwrapper, slightest hint of spine-lean else in VG condition.
An extremely useful book for collectors of this interesting country. Only Tristant's book published in a very small edition in 1977 deals with this aspect of Ethiopian philately, but that is difficult to find, and only covers the period up to 1911. This superb work includes a summary of Ethiopia's history, followed by a detailed study of the stamps and postal history of the period 1867 - 1936 organised in chronological order. With information on the less common issues not reported in some catalogues, and new research which contradicts earlier accepted views. Plus useful information on detecting forgeries. Very well illustrated, including 16 pages of superb colour plates.
