This book deals with the numbers allocated to Post Offices in Scotland from 1844 onwards, and used in obliterators, double stamps and combined date and obliterating stamps down to the beginning of the twentieth century. From the 1880s until 1924, these numbers were also employed in charge and explanatory marks and in examiners’ triangular stamps, all of which are surveyed here for the first time in depth.
