The Half-Anna Lithographed Stamps of India 1854-1855

Publisher: Philatelic Society of India, Lahore, 1927

First edition, hardback, original blue cloth gilt case with disbound pages as originally issued, [10] + xii + 91 pages + 15 loose plates + 5 line blocks, some foxing to margins of a few pages, first section of pages trimmed by 1-2cm at top, slight vertical central crease to pages, some ink annotations to some pages, ink titles to the plates, some wear, creases and toning to margins of the five sheets of line blocks, 10cm split along spine – a complete disbound copy of the book, which might benefit from rebinding, in Fair to Good condition.

One of the rarest handbooks on the classic stamps of India, this remains the essential work on the Half Anna stamps. The book was originally issued in instalments in the Philatelic Journal of India, and the blue cloth case for binding was issued later (this copy has never been bound).
